01/13 Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD)

Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Club
This club is the next step for youth archers who are experienced shooters and are serious about taking their archery to the next level. The Golden Arrow Archers JOAD club is a developmental program that uses USA Archery curriculum and is open to youth, ages 8-20. To be eligible to Join the JOAD team, members must own their own bow, have completed at least two seasons of the Chesterfield Star Shooters After School Archery Club and be able to shoot a score of 55 points or higher in that club (exceptions can be made for those with substantial archery experience outside of the Star Shooters program, i.e. NASP, etc). JOAD club registration cost Includes star pins earned and a lanyard to hold them. Additional membership in USA Archery (www.usaarchery.org) is highly recommended and required to compete in most tournaments, but not required initially to particrpate in the JOAD program.

01/19 Star Shooters Youth Archery Club

Star Shooters Youth Archery Club
During each class, participants will learn techniques, form and rules for target archery, as well as try different types of bows (compound and recurves), shoot archery games and perform drills for becoming a better archer. Twice each season, kids have the opportunity to earn one the rank patches based on personal shooting scores. Bows and equipment are provided, or use your own with instructor approval. At the end of the season, archers compete in a members-only tournament where kids pit their skills against others in their age brackets. New students with no archery experience are welcome, but must register for the New Archery Club Member Introduction class below. Instructors are USA Archery certified. Cost includes equipment, patches, tournament medals and trophies. Three time slots are available but space is limited, so regrster early to be assured a spot!

Introduction to Archery
Enjoy the fun of learning a new skill, from stance to follow through, focusing on beginning form, safety and proper use of equipment. Participants will learn the basics of archery on either simple compound bows or recurve bows. This class focuses on group style target archery and is taught by USA Archery certified Instructors. For ages 8 and older, adults and families welcome.

03/06 Beyond the Basics: Level 1 – Archery Form and Development

Beyond the Basks: Level 1 – Archery Form Development
The first in a series of continuing archery classes, this class will focus on more details about form and body mechanics, and is designed for those who want to continue their development as beqinninq to intermediate archers. Students may choose from compound or recurve style bows as they work toward achieving correct body alignment and muscle memory. All classes take place on the group instructional range next to Rockwood Nature Center. The class is held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, instruction and shooting will take place inside the nature center’s classroom. For ages 8 and older, adults and families welcome. PREREQUISITE: Participants must have completed Chesterfield County’s “Introduction to Archery” course within the past year or participated in an archery club in order to be eligible for this program.

04/21 Adult Archery Practice

Adult Archery Practice
Join fellow adult archers on the larqe outdoor target archery range called The Pit, located behind the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center, for weekly practice and archery camaraderie. Archers must bring all their own equipment and know how to use it, no formal lessons will be given during practice times, but informal tips and coaching from instructors will be given as needed. Distances can be shot from 15-70 meters, all targets and FITA style target faces will be provided.

Take your new found archery skills to the next level with the second class in the intermediate series of archery courses. Participants will learn different aiming techniques for bare bow, as well as how to use a basic target sight and the importance of your sight picture. Play some aiminq games and end the session With a mini scoring round that will put newfound abilities to the test. All equipment is provided, or use your own with instructor permission. Individual Archery Coaching

Individual Archery CoachingFor archers seeking to improve their shooting form, compete at a higher
level, shoot in their first tournament, or overcome a specific issue, there
is no better way to achieve your goals than working one-on-one with
a coach. Our USA Archery Level 3 National Training System coach will
work with individual archers or up to two friend-or-family archers to help
them become better, more consistent shooters. Sessions run one hour
and are by appointment only, subject to instructor availability.
