Do you like art and nature? Would you like to improve your artistic abilities? Join an artist to learn about different ways to look at your everyday surroundings and be inspired by nature to enhance your artistic skills. This will be a combination lecture and hands-on course where you will try new techniques and create some drawings. For ages 13 and older.

Learn about the process of candle making as you create your very own pour candle. Discuss different types of wax and various methods to melt it. Try your hand at the art of candle dipping and brushing while discussing how candles have changed throughout history.

You have Great Photos, Now What?
NEW! Taking photos shouldn’t be the end of your endeavors – they need to be shared and viewed! This class will go over some editing tricks and tips to get your images popping. Next, we will explore various ways of sharing your work, including some easy and inexpensive book makers, printed photo albums, website sharing ideas, and how to get your feet wet in the commercial world if desired. 03/16 Storytelling at the Nature Center

Storytelling at the Nature Center
NEW! Join us for a relaxing and fun storytelling time at the nature center! Bring a cozy quilt or pillow and recline with your friends and family on our back deck as we entertain you with nature-inspired stories and poems! Dress for the weather as we will be outside, if you bring along a mug we will provide hot water and your choice of cocoa, tea, or cider! Children under 10 must be accompanied by a participating adult. In the case of inclement weather the program will be held in the classroom.

You Have Some Great Footage, Now What?
NEW! It’s one thing to shoot lots of video, a whole different beast to get down to editing and creating a visual story. We will go over tips and tricks for editing & organizing your footage, developing your story behind the footage, and ways to share that new creation with the world at large! Create a Flying Decoration!
NEW! Come to the nature center and make a flying piece of art! Choose from butterflies or birds to make a spinning mobile and hanging ornament. We will use an assortment of materials, from paper to cloth. Various levels of detail can be made, depending on your choice of project! For ages 7+.

NEW! This class is a continuation of the Taking Better Pictures class offered in 2017 but all photographers looking to learn more all welcome. There’ll be a refresher of how to train your eye for photography, then we will spend most of the class going forth into nature, back into the classroom to review work, forth into the great outdoors to take new images, back to the classroom to get more feedback from fellow students and photography instructor Elli Morris, learning and practicing as we go. We will wander through the trails of Rockwood Park observing, identifying, and perceiving differences in the leaves of the trees as inspiration before heading back to the classroom to create a leaf-inspired pinch pot.
