Bicycle Maintenance
This class is designed to introduce the basics of bicycle maintenance and repair. The class will offer hands-on instruction in troubleshooting, brake and gear adjustments, tire changing and roadside repairs. It will also cover proper bike fit, safety, and riding tips. There is no fee, but class size is limited so registration is required.

Biking the Dismal Swamp State Park 

NEW! Bike through the Great Dismal Swamp, one of the most expansive wetlands in the east. Pedal deep into the swamp along old logging roads to find Atlantic white cedar, inkberry, fetterbush and other unique plants of the swamp. Look for wood ducks and prothonotary warblers as well as signs of black bear, foxes and bobcats. This will be an easy and flat 14-18 mile bike trek. Mountain bikes and/or beach cruisers will be provided.

Biking: Family Ride Series – Government Center – Evening Ride and History                                    With an emphasis on family fun and riding safety, join us for an evening ride around the Chesterfield County Government Center. Enjoy a leisurely ride in the Gov’t Complex area after the traffic is gone. There is also the option of riding the gravel path that wind through the woods around the complex. Additionally, our Historical Site Specialist will give a brief tour and discussion of the original Courthouse and County Jail. All participants will need to provide their own bike and helmet, and comfortable riding on smooth gravel.

05/19 Biking False Cape State Park

Biking False Cape State Park

NEW Explore and bike one of Virginia’s most wild park which is accessible only by foot, bike or boat. This bike tour will travel through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park and explain the mission of these two agencies while learning about the unique ecology of a barrier spit. Take a short hike to walk a remote beach and to visit the wash woods cemetery. This will be an easy and flat 16-20 mile bike trek. Mountain bike and/or beach cruisers will be provided.
