Bushwhacking the Brown & Williamson Conservation Area
Bushwhack and explore the 500 acre conservation area along the James River. Find the eagle nest, clues that reveal the story of the land, skunk cabbage and vernal pools. Have lunch in the hollow, then trek to the bluff that overlooks the James River. This will be an adventurous three-mile hike involving lots of bushwhacking and some stream crossings. Minimum age is 10.

Botany for the Very Young

Is your child interested in plants and flowers? Join one of our certified
master naturalists to learn about the world of plants through fun,
hands on activities. This eight-week series of classes will explore a
variety of botany topics. Examples of the types of activities the children
may take part in include painting with pine needles, printmaking, leaf
rubbings, leaf pressing, and planting seeds. For ages 5-8.

Rising Moon Paddle
Paddle and float during the evening hours at the Dutch Gap Conservation Area. Slip quietly through the waters to observe wildlife. Watch the sunset and behold the moonrise, Minimum age is 10. An adult must accompany children aged 10 -11. Paddling time is approximately three hours.

Eco-Adventure Camp-From Ocean to Mountains
Hike, paddle and pedal through the rich and diverse environments of Virginia. Paddle the Blackwater River, where cypress trees and resurrection ferns grow and marine fossils reveal an ancient ocean. Pedal through the remote False Cape State Park, a barrier spit in southern Vrrginia Beach. Finally, hike along and explore the Riprap Hollow in Shenandoah National Park and plunge in the crystal-blue swimming hole. For ages 12-14.
