Bushwhacking the Brown & Williamson Conservation Area
Bushwhack and explore the 500-acre conservation area along the James River. Find the eagle nest, clues that reveal the story of the land, skunk cabbage, and vernal pools. Have lunch in the hollow, then trek to the bluff that overlooks the James River. This will be an adventurous 3-mile hike involving lots of bushwhacking and some stream crossings. Minimum age is 10. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Eco-Adventure Camp – Exploring the Chesapeake Bay Paddle

Explore the natural and cultural history of the Chesapeake Bay. On day one, paddle to New Point Comfort Lighthouse, the fourth oldest lighthouse on the Chesapeake Bay, situated in Mobjack Bay. On the second day, paddle the open waters of York River to Goodwin Islands, part of the York River Estuary Preserve. Lastly, paddle the Great Wicomico to see and learn about live oyster beds, tour the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum and relax at the local ice cream shop. Sit-on-top kayaks will be used, or paddle the mouth of the bay at Eastern Shore NWR. For ages 12-14.
