Learn how to use a map and compass from one of the best orienteering racers, Tim Gilbert. Join Tim and a county naturalist for an introductory program that includes some classroom time, field time and concludes with a short orienteering course through Rockwood Park. Minimum age is 8.

Webelos Outdoorsman Workshop

This workshop for Webelos aged Cub Scouts will focus on the
many fun and useful requirements of the Outdoorsman badge.
Tie some knots, learn about the outdoor code, build and start a
fire, become an outdoor chef and discover what it takes to be safe
and successful in all your outdoor endeavors.

Reptiles and Amphibians Merit Badge Workshop

Join a naturalist and BSA merit badge counselor to learn all about
the scaly and slimy world of reptiles and amphibians. Handle
snakes, toads, turtles and lizards, learn about venomous reptiles,
and go on a walk to listen to frog calls. Some requirements will
need to be done on the scout’s own for full completion. Counselor is
available for card sign-offs when requirements are met.

Calling All Girl Scouts!
Rockwood Nature Center is now offering nature-themed badge workshops for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. Some of the topics include, Clover petal, Rosie petal, Painting, Bugs, Hiker, Pets and Animal Habitats. Other nature topics and archery for older girls also are available.
